17 Outfits At Billboard Music Awards That Are Either Ah-Mazing Or Weird AF
Celebs hit the right and wrong notes on the magenta carpet.
Some of the best talent in Hollywood attended the Billboard Music Awards last night. While there were several showstopping moments (did you see Rihanna and Madonna?), everyone's talking about the astonishing fashion that graced the BBMA's magenta carpet. While this particular awards show is known for having a more casual vibe, that didn't stop some of the stars from going all out—but not necessarily in a good way. In fact, some of the looks incorporated a wide range of fashion faux pas. But not to worry. There were still an abundance of aspirational looks that are guaranteed to become knock-offs in the very near future. Check out some of the best and worst looks from this year's BBMAs.
Best Dressed:
1. Ciara
The host of the night slayed in a stunning silver gown by Phillipp Plein—holy side-boob alert! The dress also had a thigh-high split, which exposed a ton of leg. Damn Ciara. That's a way to make an entrance.
2. Kate Beckinsale
Plunging necklines are all the rage right now. Kate totally pulled off this trend with this elegant white Hamel gown.
3. Ariana Grande
Ari is usually all about retro glamour, but the songstress went for a sleek and modern look with this gorgeous blue Versace dress. Sporting sexy cutouts and a thigh-high slit, Grande proved she's all grown up.
4. Zendaya
Everything about this outfit makes us want to scream YASS, because it's that peachy (Pun intended!). The Disney star killed her magenta carpet look in a Calvin Klein peach skirt and bralette that was the right amount of subtle and sexy. Proof once again that Zendaya can wear anything and look like a million bucks.
5. Keke Palmer
Keke is always taking fashion risks and setting trends, and this House of Harlot latex dress just proves her slayage. 🔥
6. Fifth Harmony
The girl group, who performed their hit song "Work From Home," all showed up in black dresses that matched their individual style. There wasn't one look that didn't hit the right notes.
7. Rihanna
This was a totally different look for BadGal Riri, but the button-up vintage-inspired look worked well with her messy bob, gorgeous heels and most importantly, her badass DGAF attitude. You go, Ri.
8. Laverne Cox
Laverne is becoming known as one of the most stylish red-carpet stars, and her BBMA dress was yet another amazing look. The dramatic, black Michael Costello gown had a plunging neckline and pretty lace detailing.
9. Nick Jonas
Swoon! Nick wore a navy motorcycle jacket with some plaid pants and it actually paired really well together. It's also something we'd totally wear on a weekend. Thanks for the inspo, NJ.
Worst Dressed:
1. Kesha
We love that Kesha went bold for her comeback performance with a purple pantsuit and metallic heels, but we just weren't feeling this look. Perhaps it was the busy printed detailing with the black tie underneath—there was just a little too much going on. Sorry, girl.
2. Britney Spears
Oh, Brit. The superstar performed a medley of her hits to open the show, so of course she had to go all out with her magenta carpet fashion—but the lace bodysuit with the random veil/cape thing just made her look like a wannabe sexy superhero.
3. Demi Lovato
The top half of Demi's outfit is amazing, but the pants aren't doing it for the rest of the look. This was essentially the "business-casual" look of the BBMAs.
4. Jessica Alba
Whyyyy, Jessica? Usually, Jess' fashion is on point, but there was way too much to take in with the lace mini that looked like something off a sale rack at Forever 21.
5. DNCE
Nick might have killed his magenta carpet look, but his brother Joe and the rest of DNCE definitely had an...interesting look. And by interesting, we mean there was way too much matching going on.
6. Z LaLa
Just, WTF...
7. Halsey
We just don't understand this dress. It's spaghetti strapped on one side and thicker on the other side...then there's the wonky asymmetrical cutout and in-your-face design. Humph.
8. Pete Wentz
What is this, 2007 all over again? The jean jacket and graphic tee on the magenta carpet is definitely super-casual, but it seems a little dated. All he's missing is his emo hair.
