Taylor Swift & Calvin Harris Have Split, So Bring On The Breakup Songs
Guess it wasn't a love story after all 💔.
It's the end of an era, folks—Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris have reportedly split after fifteen months of dating
While this love story may have ended, there's no bad blood between the singer and the DJ. "There was no drama. Things just don't work out sometimes," an insider told People, who reported the news of their breakup.
OK, first of all... what?! Didn't they just take a super-romantic beach vacation together not too long ago?
Second of all, it sounds like Taylor and Calvin (whose real name BTW is Adam Wiles) are never ever getting back together, so let's just collectively let our teardrops roll on out as we mourn the end of this relationship.
RIP, Tayvin.
This means no more gross PDA pics
OK, so their beach vacay pics were a little eye-roll worthy at the time, but looking back at them now almost makes you miss them as a couple already, right?
No more Calvin cat-sitting for Tay
No more cooking-out together
Or cooking in together
And no more publicly supporting each other and being obnoxiously cute about it
OK, so now that Tayvin is over, let's also talk about what this DOES mean
For starters, we fully expect to hear an emotional breakup album full of ballads we're not ashamed to sing along to. Perhaps this will allow Tay to get back in touch with her roots and explore what she really does best—write a breakup song you cry your damn eyes out to because it's so relatable. Seriously, just think of how powerful all her ex-boyfriend songs have been. There's "Dear John" about John Mayer, "Back to December" about Taylor Lautner, "I Knew You Were Trouble" about Harry Styles, "Forever and Always" about Joe Jonas, and now it seems like there's a "blank space" for Calvin Harris.
Yes, "1989" was her best album yet. She did a lot of growing up musically, lyrically and stylistically. But there's a part of us that misses the old vengeful Taylor who lets her guard down and isn't afraid to show it.
I'm not saying I'm happy for Taylor's breakup, I'm just excited to see how Taylor will grow from this. Yes, she's a big-time celebrity—but sometimes we forget that she's also just a 26-year-old woman who experiences the same highs and lows we all do.
Plus, we know she'll have her squad on speed-dial during this tough time
Stay strong, Tay 💜.
