14 Outfits At The CFDA Awards That Totally Slayed Or Epically Bombed
Obvi, Beyoncé slayed.
The CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Fashion Awards is one of the biggest nights for fashion among the Hollywood set. Tons of A-list stars flocked to the annual event in New York that celebrates the outstanding work of designers, stylists, retailers and influencers in the world of fashion. Of course, since the awards are dedicated to style, celebrities made fashion statements of their own on the red carpet. While some celebs slayed in their most extraordinary getups yet, there were also some unfortunate fashion blunders that'll make you cringe.
Check out our roundup of the best and most WTF-dressed at the lavish event!
Best Dressed:
1. Beyoncé
Yoncé came to slay and that's just what she did at the awards show. Queen Bey rocked a badass pinstriped Givenchy pantsuit and pulled the look together with a statement-making brim hat. She showed off her outfit when she accepted the award for 2016's CFDA Fashion Icon, proving that she was worthy of the honor. In her moving speech, she gave shoutouts to her uncle, mother and designers who work hard in the industry. KWEEEN.
2. Bella Hadid
Soooo Bella Hadid and Beyoncé totally wore the same Givenchy suit, but this just goes to show there are so many different ways to style things! At an award show that celebrates fashion, it's cool to see the same thing worn in a completely different way. The model opted for a a sleek and sexy look, pairing the suit with a sparkly fringe bralette, necklace and stilettos.
3. Jourdan Dunn
We're still not over her ah-mazing Met Gala look, but she stole the spotlight again wearing a gorgeous Jonathan Simkhai dress and Eva Fehren Jewelry. It's modern and classic all at the same time.
4. Olivia Wilde
Olivia dared to show off her baby bump in a sleek Rosie Assoulin gown with some major cutouts. The expecting mother took to Instagram to gush about the designer: "THE most ferociously talented/kind/smart/hilarious person. She let me and my kid wear this awesome dress, featuring a window so the babe could clearly hear Beyoncé's speech."
UM, talk about the best reason ever for wearing such a fierce dress.
5. Naomi Campbell
Cutouts seemed to be all the rage at the awards show—Naomi Campbell also opted for the trend, rocking a plunging Brandon Maxwell black dress that showed off her fabulous body.
6. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Slip dresses are one of summer 2016's hottest trends, and Rosie put a classy spin on the trend with a pretty spagehtti-strap gown.
7. Irina Shayk
Once again, cutouts RULE. Irina sported a scarlet, high-waisted jumper which had a sexy keyhole revealing her cleavage.
Most WTF-Dressed:
1. Lena Dunham
Lena Dunham is one to break the rules when it comes to her wardrobe, but we never expected her to break out fuzzy bunny slippers for the red carpet. Maybe it'll become a trend? Who knows.
2. Karlie Kloss
Karlie usually has awesome fashion, but her pouffy white dress looked like she was an off-duty Tinkerbell, and it wasn't exactly flattering.
3. Mary-Kate, Ashley and Elizabeth Olsen
The Olsen sisters showed up in all black and somber faces, because of course they did. It's good to know they're at least not above wearing matching outfits post-MK & Ash movie days. Some things never change.
4. Ciara
CiCi usually stuns on the red carpet, but her off-the-shoulder peasant-style dress looked like a costume for a 5-year-old. Plus, the cutout in the front was a bit too drastic.
5. Selma Blair
Wait—is this a pantsuit or a dress? The plunging neckline looked great on Selma, but everything below the waist was confusing AF.
6. Adriana Lima
Whoa, whoa, whoa. So many trends going on all at once. There's velvet pants, a metallic shirt and choker topped off with some intense slicked-back hair. Just a little too much going on here.
7. Betsey Johnson
Betsey is known for her colorful and quirky fashion, but WTF is this? A dress with wings? A magenta cape? Is that a yellow cat purse? Please advise.
Plus, this happened on the red carpet, which definitely made us think she was trying to make a statement...but maybe in all the wrong ways.
Well, you can't always get it right but as long as you have confidence to wear bunny slippers or do the splits on the red carpet, more power to you.
