Get Hyped, Netflix Is Rolling Out Mixtapes Of Your Fav Shows And Movies
As if Netflix isn’t already taking up too much of our time, the company has come up with another awesome way to eat up our weekends and weekday nights.
Let us introduce Flixtape!
Flixtape is like a mixtape generator, but for your favorite Netflix films and shows!
For the kids who are too young to know what a mixtape is, it’s a compilation of music arranged in a personal order. Flixtape allows you to do the same thing, but with your favorite movies and shows.
With Flixtape, you can easily make your own playlist based on a specific genre or theme.
Create a name for your playlist and Netflix immediately suggests three titles that might be related to the name you created. You can remove or replace these titles with ones of your own choice, too.
Unfortunately, there is a six title limit for each playlists.
That’s kind of a bummer, but oh well.
Flixtape is also a fun way to connect with friends and strangers with the same viewing tastes.
The service also allows you to customize the mixtape's cover with doodles and text that can be dragged around the screen to be placed wherever you want. You can share your playlists with friends or family over Facebook, Twitter, e-mail or text.
Flixtape has also found a way to suggest titles that relies on word-of-mouth and not an algorithm (which, honestly, can be a little inaccurate).
If picking out titles is too tedious, you can use any of the pre-made lists
Choose from the options in "The Besties or Frenemies" flixtape, which features Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and New Girl. Check out many more pre-made lists!
At the moment, it doesn’t look like Flixtape is going to be integrated into the main Netflix platform.
This is not the first time Netflix has developed an additional site. If you’ll remember, they released a connection speed test website called Fast.com.
Fast.com was created so that Netflix could throw shade at your ISP, but Flixtape is really just for making friends one movie at a time.
So, who else is going to let Flixtape consume all their free time and not regret it?
