Shopping during the holidays is absolutely awful for everyone involved. Stay at home, shop online.
1. Not having nearly enough employees on a busy day.
2. Or possibly worse, having way too many employees and no customers.
3. Getting stuck training someone on the register who has apparently never handled money before.
4. Cleaning up after customers who are there just to break stuff.
5. Self righteous people who feel the need to say "Merry Christmas" when you say "Happy Holidays."
6. Hearing the same (awful) Christmas music on repeat from Halloween on.
7. Having your schedule changed around by the hour so you're never able to make plans.
8. Having to explain to customers that "the back room" doesn't actually have much more.
9. Constantly being told "Oh wow, it sucks you have to work during the holidays!"
10. Customers who feel the need to tell you every problem they've had while shopping.
11. Being asked to print out gift receipts after you've finished the transaction.
Deciding if all your friends and family are getting gifts from where you work.
13. Friends and family who use your employee discount more than you do.
14. Knowing that all the money you make during the holidays is going to buy stuff for other people.
15. Anyone who tries to return anything without a receipt.
16. "The customer is always right."
17. Customers who think they deserve special treatment when they come in,
18. Shoppers who refuse to leave after you've made multiple announcements.
19. Having someone try to convince you the shirt they found is on sale when it's clearly not.
20. Anyone who spends most of their time figuring out how to get something cheaper.
21. Customers who feel like they can treat you like the help.
22. When your friend tells you they're going shopping at midnight on Black Friday.
23. Not being allowed to take any days from November to February off, for any reason.
24. Getting stuck helping a customer on the way out of the store.
25. Not once getting out of the store on time.
26. Knowing you're supposed to be merry, but finding it absolutely impossible.
27. Thinking you're in the clear on Christmas morning, then remembering the lines will be just as long for returns.
