Alaska native Lee Cross has developed a new and unique approach to building stuffed animals.
Her stuffed animals have received praise for how lifelike they are. They even have tricked people before, who at a glance assume they're real.
But the question is—how realistic is TOO realistic? Do you think these animals are adorable, or just plain creepy?
The building process begins with a skeleton. Cross develops a soft but durable skeleton that mimics that of an actual animal.
She then surrounds it with stuffing, making sure all of her materials are soft and very cuddle-inducing.
The fur is all hand-painted.
Here's the thing though, she also paints on the teeth and claws in great detail as well...
...and it's hard to deny that these give off a pretty serious dead animal vibe.
Would you cuddle up to one of these things?
Would this little guy help you fall asleep at night?
Or would he give you super weird nightmares?
Whether they're creepy or cuddly or somewhere in between, there's no denying that Cross has serious talent.
Her goal was to make incredibly life-like stuffed animals, and she definitely succeeded.
Her specialty is little woodland creatures, much like these guys, but she also dabbles in some fantasy creatures too, like unicorns.
If you're someone who maybe wants to get a pet but doesn't actually want to take care of it or buy it food, these might be for you.
But if you get scared easily or hate the idea of taxidermy...they might not be your smartest purchase.
Regardless, they are pretty impressive feats for a stuffed animal maker.
Whether they're cute...
or the creepiest things you've ever seen...
They sure are unique.
