Great News Kesha Fans, Sony Might Be Dropping Dr. Luke From Its Label
Kesha is now reportedly one step closer to being freed from her contract with Dr. Luke, her long-term producer and collaborator who allegedly abused her for years.
All of us were shocked by the outcome of Kesha's legal battle with producer Dr. Luke, when the court ruled that the singer was to keep her contract with her alleged abuser.
But now, Kesha might have a chance to be free after all. Or at least, she's getting there.
You can read the details of the court's ruling here, along with the outpouring of support she received from women in the music industry, including Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift.
Sony is reportedly trying to end Dr. Luke's contract a year ahead of its expiration date...
...because of the PR nightmare this has become.
“There is no contest. Kesha has no case in regards to her contract but they can’t afford the Adeles of the world out in the streets calling the label unsupportive,” a source told The Wrap. "The fact that this hasn’t already been taken care of with Luke is confusing, especially for people in the building.”
Right now, it's unknown how Sony plans to terminate the business contract, as he signed a five-year contract in 2011. Since the allegations were never proven, the only way the decision could be reached is if Sony and Dr. Luke mutually decided to cut ties.
Another insider said: "Somebody has been convicted via Twitter . No court has convicted this person, so there may not be any legal basis to terminate an agreement. It would have to be mutual."
Of course, this comes after Hollywood united to show their support and solidarity for the singer.
See what happens when people - women especially - come together and support one another, instead of tearing each other down?
Kelly Clarkson recently revealed that she was actually blackmailed by her record label into working with Dr. Luke.
Fans also protested that Sony #FreeKesha in front of the music corporation's New York headquarters.
Of course, Dr. Luke denied the rape allegations (because why wouldn't he?)
And while there wasn't enough evidence to prove that Kesha was abused by her long-term producer, and even if Sony just wants to drop him because he's bad PR, at least we can say, we're finally getting somewhere.
Kesha deserves to be free, and that is her right as a musician and as an indiviudal.
The singer already has tons of producers offering to collaborate with her.
We're hoping now, it's just a matter of time until she's really free and Dr. Luke is out of her life for good.
We're rooting for you, Kesha!
