Prepare To Be Embarrassed By The Most Popular Reality TV Show In Your State
Come on, Kentucky, that's not even a show anymore!
Every U.S. state is as unique as a snowflake and their reality TV preferences definitely reflect that.
Cable TV recently created a map of all 50 states featuring the most popular reality show in each state. While some states' preferences were unsurprising, some were on the more confusing side. Here are the most popular reality TV shows for your state.
Unsurprisingly, "Duck Dynasty" dominates TV screens in the South.
Specifically, "Duck Dynasty" is the most popular show in Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee.
But the most popular series in Duck Dynasty's home state Louisiana is the "Real Housewives" franchise.
Maybe hunting frogs and eating gumbo all day makes one want to watch the glamorous lives of the 1% on TV instead of the lives of their swamp-dwelling neighbors?
Unlike Louisiana, other states show hometown pride in their TV choices.
"Sister Wives" is the most popular show in Utah, "Dance Moms" sashays in Pennsylvania, "Pawn Stars" bargains into the hearts of their fellow Nevada citizens, and "Love & Hip Hop" is the pride and show of choice in Georgia.
New Yorkers are LIVING for "RuPaul's Drag Race."
This isn't super surprising news because more than half of the drag queens from this season were New Yorkers themselves.
The Midwest is falling head over heels for "The Bachelor."
Specifically, "The Bachelor" is the top show in Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. This preference might be a mild suggestion about what a sad, fake and ultimately loveless place the Midwest is.
"Keeping Up With The Kardashians" and its franchises are less popular than expected, winning only California and Arizona.
Kris is probably holding a family meeting RIGHT NOW about how they need to become the #1 show in all 50 states.
A few off-the-air shows are still incredibly popular.
"19 Kids & Counting" is the most popular show in Kentucky, while "Jon & Kate Plus Eight" has won over South Dakota. Apparently people like seeing giant, drama-filled families on TV so much that they'll watch the reruns for YEARS. Also in the bratty kid genre, "Super Nanny" is the most popular show in New Hampshire despite its last episode airing in 2010.
The most popular reality television show for the United States' states was a tie. One of the winners is "Hoarders."
"Hoarders" was the most watched show in Montana, New Mexico, Michigan, Indiana and Kansas. The popularity of "Hoarders" is concerning because it feeds our obsession of people being buried alive in their houses (as we get buried alive in our own garbage from watching "Hoarders" for three days straight.)
And somehow, in spite of political blunders, "The Apprentice" is the other winner due to its wild popularity in Maryland, Idaho, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Virginia.
Basically, Donald Trump is the best in the East Coast...and Idaho. His show's success echoes his presidential campaign's success in the sense that it's popular because it's a loud, angry New Yorker yelling at people more successful than him.
