17 Songs You'll Be Singing Along To All Summer Long
You know, that song that makes you want to roll your windows down and belt all the words.
Summer is right around the corner, which means we'll soon have to unofficially declare our summer 2016 anthem. You know, that song you'll shamelessly blast in your car with your windows down, belt out the words with friends (because of course you know all of them), and literally lose your shit when they play it at the club.
So what components make up a "Song of the Summer?" The cheery pop formula, irresistibly catchy chorus and sunny riffs give you an instant mood boost and make you want summer to never end. Last year, it was Omi's "Cheerleader," in 2014 it was Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX's "Fancy" and in 2013 Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" took the spot. You get the idea.
There's already been tons of great music that's come out in 2016. Between Beyoncé's "Lemonade," Drake's "Views," Rihanna's "Anti" and Adele's "25," there are already a handful of contenders for the Summer Song of 2016.
Check out our playlist below!
1. "Can't Stop The Feeling" — Justin Timberlake
Ahead of the release of his fifth studio album, JT debuted "Can't Stop The Feeling" written for the movie "Trolls" with not one, but two music videos. Good luck getting the chorus out of your head.
2. "True Colors" — Zedd feat. Kesha
Kesha proved she wouldn't let Dr. Luke take her down by collaborating with Zedd on "True Colors," an uplifting power anthem about being true to yourself.
3. "All Night" — Chance the Rapper feat. Knox Fortune
Chance The Rapper went big with "Chance 3," and it's full of so many great songs, including the dance-y track "All Night." Seriously, it's impossible to not want to get down to this song.
*Unfortunately, the song is not yet on Spotify.
4. "This Is What You Came For" — Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna
Rihanna and Calvin Harris' second collaboration is the amazing followup we all needed to "We Found Love." The EDM dance track has explosive backbeats that build throughout the song, all accompanied by Rih's amazing voice.
5. "Three Strikes" — Terror Jr.
We were all stunned when Kylie Jenner made her music video debut which also doubled as an ad for her lip glosses. The song used was incredibly catchy and makes us want to drive around in the desert in a convertible. But maybe not rob people.
6. "One Dance" — Drake
"One Dance" was the promising single released off of "Views" and it quickly became a fan-favorite.
7. "Work" — Rihanna feat. Drake
This song has shown no signs of slowing down since its early 2016 release, probably because of the amazing musical (and ok, physical) chemistry between Rihanna and Drake.
8. "Sorry" — Beyonce
It's the song that sparked controversy in the BeyHive over the mysterious "Becky With The Good Hair" line, but it's also a power anthem for not apologizing for the badass you are.
*Unfortunately, "Lemonade" is not on Spotify
9. "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" — Adele
"25" was a home run for the powerhouse that is Adele, and this song is more on the upbeat side tempo-wise—however, her raw vocals and catchy riffs still hit us home in the feels.
10. "Champagne Problems" — Nick Jonas
"Keep on, keep on drinking," Nick croons in the song. Yeah, we can get on board with that.
11. "Into You" — Ariana Grande
Ari's new "Dangerous Woman" album is full of all kinds of songs to sing along to, and "Into You" will totally be your jam if you're lucky enough to find yourself a summer fling. And if not, you can still sing along because it's that good.
12. "Girls Like" — Tinie Tempah feat. Zara Larsson
This collaboration works in so many ways, and even if you hate clubbing, you'll probably want to still dance to this track.
13. "Work From Home" — Fifth Harmony
This song still hasn't made its way out of our heads since it came out in late February, and it will definitely stay there this summer too.
14. "Don't Let Me Down" — The Chainsmokers feat. Daya
Once again, another irresistibly catchy song from the Chainsmokers.
15. "Panda" — Desiigner
Kanye West used the hook of the song for "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2" and it instantly became a hit because it's just so BADASS.
16. "Cheap Thrills" — Sia
This track might have been released in the dead of winter, but the sunny song will definitely still be a hit this summer.
17. "Wild Things" — Alessia Cara
This song is all about freedom and adventure, which is perfect for summer. Alessia's awesome vocals encouraging you to live a little recklessly will pretty much be your spirit guide this summer.
